Bible Verse for July 8
He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. Matthew 10:3738

I do the things that I don't want to do...
In this chapter the apostle does two things: First, he shows what is not and what is the Law's relation to the believerjudicially, the believer is emancipated from the curse or penalty of the Law (7:1-6); morally, the believer is under bonds to obey the Law (vv. 22, 25)....

Can one be completely sinless on this side of eternity?
The devil has deceived people in many ways and with many false doctrines, and the heresy of sinlessness in the flesh is one of them. Not many communities have escaped this heresy, and I am sure that wherever you may live, some false teacher has come along to propagate this doctrine. In fact, from the pulpit, over the radio, and on television, people are subjected to this heresy all over the world.

TV Evangelists, what's really going on?
There are some false teachers, parading around as "anointed, baptized in the Holy Ghost, evangelists" or "prophets," who claim to have the "gift of healing." False teachers misuse, "By His stripes we are healed" (Isa. 53:5) and "By whose stripes ye were healed" (I Peter 2:24), to deceive the unstable, and those who are "tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctorine, by th esleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive" (Ephesians 4:14).

Which Jesus do you have?
II Cor. 11:4: "For if he that cometh preacheth ANOTHER JESUS, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive ANOTHER SPIRIT, which ye have not received, or ANOTHER GOSPEL, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him"

"He whom Thou lovest is sick."-John 11:3
The words which I specially dwell upon in this chapter are singularly affecting and instructive. They record the message which Martha and Mary sent to Jesus when their brother Lazarus was sick: "Lord, behold he whom Thou lovest is sick" That message was short and simple. Yet almost every word is deeply suggestive.

Is the atonement finished as John 19:30 states?
Some folk who are conscientious in thinking that some ceremony or ordinance is the literal means of salvation fail to distinguish between a reality and a formality. Let me explain...

By Charles H. Spurgeon (1834 - 1892)
Calvinism is just another name for "The Doctrines of Grace" or the true gospel...
IT IS A GREAT THING to begin the Christian life by believing good solid doctrine. Some people have received twenty different "gospels" in as many years; how many more they will accept before they get to their journey's end, it would be difficult to predict. I thank God that He early taught me the gospel, and I have been so perfectly satisfied with it, that I do not want to know any other.

"And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life" John 5:40
THIS IS ONE OF THE GREAT GUNS OF THE Arminians, mounted upon the top of their walls, and often discharged with terrible noise against the poor Christians called Calvinists. I intend to spike the gun this morning, or, rather, to turn it on the enemy, for it was never theirs; it was never cast at their foundry at all, but was intended to teach the very opposite doctrine to that which they assert.

This message today on the SIN OF ADULTERY is part of a series on CHRIST'S TEACHINGS FROM THE GOSPELS, which is being sent forth in faith that the Holy Spirit will use it to open our hearts to the truths of God's precious Word; and to show us our need of Christ, His precious cleansing blood, His delivering power from sin, and His perfect righteousness....

By George Whitefield (1714 - 1770)
Various are the pleas and arguments which men of corrupt minds frequently urge against yielding obedience to the just and holy commands of God. But, perhaps, one of the most common objections that they make is this, that our Lord's commands are not practicable, because contrary to flesh and blood; and consequently, that he is `an hard master, reaping where he has not sown, and gathering where he has not strewed'.
